Indiana Dunes and Calumet Region Walking Tours

Explore one of our global diversity hotspots and learn about the plants, wildlife, and the rich Native American history of the Calumet Region/Indiana Dunes. Northwest Indiana is one of the most densely biodiverse in the United States with more than a dozen ecosystems less than 1 mile from the shore of Lake Michigan. Sandy beaches, dunes, forests, oak savannas, prairies, rivers, marshes, ponds, fresh water springs and more, Learn about the history of the land and some of the more than 500 local edible and medicinal plants. Customized tours are available year round which can focus on any of the above topics.

We choose specific paths depending upon the time of year, accessibility of the participants and the areas of interest.

Join one of our scheduled walking tours from March to November. Tours explore unusually rich ecosystems/areas including the Indiana Dunes, Marquette Park, Wolf Lake/Whiting/Lost Marsh, West Beach, Miller Woods, Hobart/Liverpool Oak Woods, Beverly Shores, Cowles Bog/Dune Acres Trails, Gibson Woods, and the glorious Little Calumet River trails.
